Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Industrial Computing specializes in industrial automation and systems integration of large of data and information. Industrial Computing are mostly used in Data Collection and Reporting (Database Systems, Barcode Systems, Machine Vision, Statistical Process Control, Network Installation, Configuration, Control Panel Design and Fabrication), Bar Code systems, Industrial Networks, Network Instillation and configuration, Human-Machine Interface, Software and Hardware Experience. Industrial Computing plan, put up, install and support systems that help make your business operations more efficient and cost-effective. Industrial Computing Systems usually use PCMCIA cards to store large amounts of data and information.

PCMCIA Reader on the other hand is used to read this certain data. (For good quality of cards and readers visit ElatecWorls.com). An industrial Computing system also makes data distribution for companies in different places to be easier. It uses ISO 15693, is an International Standards Organization or ISO standard for “Vicinity Card”, this cards on which can be read from a greater distance as compared to proximity cards. ISO 1693 systems operate at the 13.56 MHz frequency to 2.4 GHz frequencies, and offer maximum read distance of 1-1.5 meters. As the vicinity cards have to operate at a greater distance, the necessary magnetic field is less (0.15 to 5 A/m) than that for a proximity card (1.5 to 7.5 A/m).

What are RFID and PCMCIA?

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Have you ever used an access card to get into a building or your car or passed through an automated toll collection system on a highway, then you have used RFID Readers. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data by means of devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. RFID Readers are used now in passports, product tracking, libraries, school and universities, lap scoring and even Inventory systems. RFID Readers are now incorporated with Touch Screen devices for trouble-free use.

On the other PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card is the form factor of a peripheral interface designed for laptop computers. It was originally for memory expansion but is expanded several times and is now suitable for many types of devices. These kinds of cards can only be read by PCMCIA Reader. PCMCIA Reader is the perfect reader for laptops and is ideal for the corporate business traveler who needs to access sensitive data. When inserted in a PCMCIA slot, the reader is totally discreet. Both RFID and PCMCIA are used to store large amount of data.

Do You Accept Credit Cards?

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Do you accept credit card? This is one of the most common question we can hear in a shop, and near a cashier counter.

In this fast moving world, where people want be to as convenient as possible in their lives, owning a credit card has turned into a necessity. Since it can give us so much convenient in purchasing or paying for our groceries, and bills, we tend to choose card as our favorite choice of payment. To better serve the consumers who choose to use credit card as their number one choice of payment, business provider ought to be able to receive credit card. This will increase value in the eyes of those customers.

Hotels, restaurants, groceries store, convenient shop and many more others have to be able to receive credit card as a term of payment. In order to be able to received credit card, a business must have a card processing machine provided by a bank. There are three type of that machine, the oldest and hardly seen is Imprint, the next one is called POS (point of sale) and the newest one is called EDC (Electronic Data Capture). There is another system called online payment, which we used when purchase something through the internet.

How do we know if a shop accept credit card as a form of payment? The easiest way is to look for the sign / sticker on the door of the shop. If you see a sign / sticker of American Express, that mean the shop accept American Express card as a form of payment. Like wise if you see VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, and JCB.

So, what’s in it for the business? To answer that question, I can see a few benefits from accepting credit card as a form of payment, to mention a few :

1. You will be able to sell to people who only want to use credit card as a method of payment.

2. A lot of times, customer decide not to buy or buy less because they do not have enough cash, but if they have credit card and the business/shop received it, then customer tend to buy more since he/she has the purchasing power.

3. You can avoid receiving counterfeit money.

4. You can avoid stacking too much cash in their safe, hence decrease risk of stolen money.

So there is no reason for a shop or a business not to accept credit card as a form of payment.

Some store owner, worry that the credit card company charges. Certainly there are price to pay for the convenient, but there are certain way to decrease the cost for example :

1. Put the VISA or MASTERCARD sign on your front window or door.

2. Put the VISA or MASTERCARD sign on your cashier table.

3. Always remind customer that they can pay with credit card.

Now, you have no reason not to received credit card as a form of payment.
